So. those of you who dabble heavily on the electronics side of gameboys, exploring pin outs and functionality of the PCBs. is there any conceivable method for replacing the stock LCD with a modern backlit LCD? I've seen videos (timbob?) of video out from super gameboy to the DMG's LCD, and I believe another video showing the LCD PCB of the DMG outputting video to a MGB screen.

I know nothing of the requisites behind powering a modern LCD, or the difficulty in making the appropriate signal connections from the old old gameboy to modern LCD form factors, but It would obviously be really really cool.

BennVenn does have a backlight for the DMG, but this screen is a higher quality IPS. As for the gameboy color IPS vs BennVenn's new one the BV one is better as it's cheaper and a drop in screen. Glass screens are a step up from plastic screens, offering better scratch resistance, clarity and overall aesthetic appeal. There IS adhesive on the back so you can stick right to your case! I'm not too sure about glass screens and replacement shells though since his store is currently down. If you can't find replacement shells for sale on their own a good alternative could be to find cheap/broken GameBoy Pockets, take them apart wash them.

So I guess I'm just curious what limitations or difficulties or impossibilities there are to this.
