I’m trying to understand how much damage Zane’s clone does baseline - so I can understand how much benefit the capstone really is? Like is the clone using the equivalent of a green weapon up to level? I googled but couldn’t find anyone talking about this, just. Sep 12, 2019  Zane Full Build. Sep 24, 2019  This tree focuses on the Digi-Clone, a virtual clone of Zane that distracts and shoot enemies. Though the clone can’t move, Zane can quickly switch positions with it. Hitman Zane is a fast paced and very mobile mid-range oriented build that aims to maintain constant uptime on all the kill skill buffs in order to greatly amplify the damage output. Frequent skill resets allow the build to utilize Anointment effects on Skill end to the fullest, further increasing the damage.

1. Build overview

Our Zane build is pretty much the fastest Build in Borderlands 3. It's optimized for maximum Movement Speed which at the same time increases your Damage, thanks to the Violent Momentum Passive. It's a very powerful and well-rounded build that utilizes a very fast-paced playstyle and allows the player to use any Weapons they want. It's fully viable in both close and long-range, and it's one of the most efficient Farming/Grinding Builds we have played so far. Zane also brings amazing Actions Skills to the battlefield, you can spawn an SNTNL and a Digi-Cole which can attract enemy fire, and randomly throw free Grenades for extra damage. Zane himself has a Passive chance to throw free Grenades whenever he fires.

3. Passives

Below you will find the recommended Passive for the Fastest Zane build. This build utilizes the Hitman and Doubled Agent Skill Trees since they offer the highest bonuses to Gun Damage and Movement Speed. The Under Cover Tree offers good defensive bonuses and extra team utility, however, we have decided to optimize this build for playing Solo, so you shouldn't bother with it at all. I have personally leveled up by spending Points in the Hitman Tree up to the Violent Violence Passive and then switched to Doubled Agent to get the extra Grenades from the Duct Tape Mod Passive. But the leveling part is rather easy, and you should be fine following any of the Trees first.

Hitman Tree

The Hitman Tree provides high Gun Damage and Movement Speed bonuses which are the core attributes in this build.

Notable Passives:

  1. Violent Speed - grants you increased Movement Speed when you kill enemies;
  2. Violent Momentum - increases your Gun Damage based on your Movement Speed, making it a must-have for this build;
  3. Salvation - grants Zane high Life Leech bonus after killing an enemy, making it a must-have for playing Solo.

Doubled Agent Tree

Doubled Agent grants us extra utility and damage based on free Grenades that will be passively thrown by Zane and his Clone. It's also required to get the Supersonic Man Passive from this Tree for the extra Movement Speed bonus

Notable Passives:

  1. Supersonic Man - increases Zane's Movement Speed significantly, making it a must-have in this build.
The Fastest Zane Build Skill Bar
  1. SNTNL - summons the SNTNL drone that flies around damaging enemies and buffing Zane;
  2. Bad Dose - causes SNTNL to periodically weaken enemies, and buff Zane by increasing his Fire Rate and Movement Speed;
  3. Static Field - drains nearby enemies' Shields and regenerates Zane's;
  4. Digi-Clone - summons a Digi-Clone which distracts and damages enemies. It can also occasionally throw free Grenades;
  5. Dopplebanger - allows Zane to detonate his Digi-Clone for high Area Damage around it. The longer the remaining duration, the higher the damage;
  6. Digital Distribution - causes Zane to share a portion of Health Damage to be shared with the Digi-Clone.

4. Weapon Tips

This build allows Zane to efficiently use any Weapon you want. It grants no Gun-specific bonuses, making it extremely well-rounded build for casual use and Solo Play. However, getting Legendary Items that increase your Movement Speed should be the ones to look out for. And you should try getting the Bashing Shockwave Infiltrator Zane's Mod, which grants the highest possible bonuses for this build.

  1. Bashing Shockwave Infiltrator - is the best Zane's Legendary Mod for this build which increases the levels of Supersonic Man and Violent Momentum Passives. Both are core Passives that scale our damage here;
  2. Rough Rider - Legendary Shield which can increase your Movement Speed by 10% when your Shield is low, making it a great addition to this build. It's a random world drop, so just grind, grind, grind, and you may eventually find it.

1. Build overview

This is currently the best Support Build for Borderlands which is based on Zane's Barrier Shield which blocks incoming projectiles and increases the Gun Damage of all allies inside significantly. The Barrier also grants your active Shield's bonuses to all allies, however, makes it have a slightly reduced the effect on Zane. The Solo capabilities when playing this build are greatly limited as it's mainly focused on assisting teammates with the Barrier and by Freezing enemies rapidly. Since we don't benefit from any Gun Damage bonuses, we have decided to pick Duct Tape Mod and Fractal Frags so that you throw extra 'free' Grenades for some additional damage. This build offers currently the highest team bonuses out of all the available characters and has insane Crowd-Control via several sources of Cryo Damage.

3. Passives

Below you will find the recommended Passive for the Under Cover Support Zane build. This is heavily Oriented on the Under Cover Tree which provides the Barrier Skill and numerous bonuses to it. It also enhances Zane's defensive capabilities. We have also decided to use the Didi-Clone from the Doubled Agent Tree, which grants some extra damage with the Passive chance to throw free Grenades and additional Cold Nova for extra Freeze.

Under Cover Tree

Under Cover is the primary Tree which is used when playing a Support Zane. This Tree provides the Barrier Skill with insane team utility bonuses and very solid defensive buffs which allow Zane to stay alive during the hardest encounters. Usually, he will be the last one standing and reviving allies

Notable Passives:

  1. Best Served Cold - Zane creates Cold Nova whenever he kills Frozen enemies to Freeze even more enemies in the area;
  2. Calm, Cool, Collected - grants Zane increased Shield Recovery, and if he is already full, his Action Skill Cooldown is reduced allowing you to drop your Barrier sooner;
  3. Distributed Denial - the single-best Support Passive in the game. It makes your Barrier share your equipped Shield's bonuses with your allies.

Doubled Agent Tree

We have decided to choose Doubled Agent for some extra passively thrown Grenades and Skill Effect duration via Borrowed Time Passive

Notable Passives:

  1. Borrowed Time - increases Zane's Action Skill Duration making it a must-have for this build;
  2. Duct Tape Mod - gives you a passive chance to throw free Grenades whenever you fire, giving us some extra DPS.
Hitman Tree

Choosing Hitman's Passive is optional, but since we are going to use mainly Cryo Weapons, it may not be a bad idea.

Notable Passives:

D&d beyond. I've also considered allowing the 'helped' ally to move out of reach without provoking an opportunity attack.Originally I was just going with the Help rule, but that meant that one of the allies couldn't attack. That didn't really make sense to me, because if you weren't taking an attack then you wouldn't be drawing the enemy away from your ally very much.

  1. Cold Bore - grants increased Cryo Damage after you switch your Weapons.
Support Zane Build Skill Bar
  1. Barrier - the core support/defense Skill used in this build. It blocks incoming projectiles and increasing Gun Damage of anyone behind the Barrier;
  2. Redistribution - further increases Gun Damage when the Barrier takes damage;
  3. All-rounder - makes the Barrier work as a dome, protecting allies and increasing Gun Damage in every direction;
  4. Digi-Clone - summons a Digi-Clone which will attract enemy Fire and periodically throw Zane's equipped Grenade;
  5. Schadenfreude - recovers Zane's Shield whenever the Clone takes damage;
  6. Binary System - whenever Zane switches places with the Digi-Clone a Cold Nova is cast to Freeze enemies in the radius.

4. Weapon Tips

This build primarily utilizes Cryo Weapons, and what weapons you choose is up to you. Since we have a Chance to slow down enemies with each bullet, it's recommended to use Weapons with high Fire Rate, but that's not mandatory. Your primary goal should be to get the best possible Shield, as its' bonuses are shared across your party. Also picking up powerful Grenades will be a good idea since they make up for quite a big portion of your total DPS.

  1. Frozen Heart - one of the best Shields you can choose for this build. It is a very Solid Shield which also creates Freezing Novas when it gets depleted. It can drop from Aurelia Hammerlock on Eden-6;
  2. Band of Sitorak - grants high bonus Health and Gun Damage when it's depleted. It's supposedly a random world drop but has a higher chance to drop from the Unstoppable Side Boss on Eden-6;
  3. Night Hawking - Legendary SMG which has greatly increased Cryo Damage's effectiveness and additionally slows down enemies on Hit. It also has a high Rate of Fire and DPS. It's a random world drop which means you can find it anywhere in the game.
